We began our journey when our shareholders inked the Joint Venture Agreement in 2005, which eventually saw us being the first industrial tenant here in SPARK to producing the first drop of top-grade methanol in 2010 – a milestone that was followed by many more.

BMC’s construction was funded by the abode’s first international project financing, where the chemical manufacturing plant was viewed as a first step in the country's efforts to diversify its economy and build up its industrial base.

​

But we are more than just a chemical manufacturing plant in Brunei Darussalam. We are committed to the pursuit of excellence, which means we never put our guard down by being complacent. Safety is our priority – it always has been. And we strive to be the employer of choice.

With the completion of our project financing repayment in 2022 and the launch of our Domestic Loading Facility (Onshore) on 29 November 2023, BMC is excited to roll out projects aiming at the downstream economy of the country.

In alignment with the Brunei Government’ vision to achieve Wawasan Brunei 2035 and Bruneianization Directive, we have contributed to developing Brunei Darussalam’s economy by increasing local job employment and supporting the local business services. We have become synonymous with our commitment to our vision “To be a World Class Methanol Supplier of Choice”.

Embodied in our company we continually strive to improve ourselves in all aspects of our operations and increase the value of our employees, surrounding community, and environment by adopting international best practices.

As the CEO of BMC, my dedication lies in steering the Company with a clear vision. This involves ensuring safe and stable operations, enhancing the capabilities of our employees, improving financial performance, implementing sustainable practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and, most importantly, maintaining our licence to operate.  Our team, comprising skilled and diverse professionals, is steadfast in their efforts to align with our vision and work towards a common goal.
