On 7 March 2023, Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) had the pleasure of hosting a lively panel discussion with Lailatul Zubaidah Hussain in conjunction with this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) that embodied the theme, #EmbraceEquity.
IWD is globally recognized by the United Nations (UN) celebrated every 8th March for over 100 years to make a positive difference for women and highlight gender parity in the workplace. The theme #EmbraceEquity seeks to challenge gender stereotypes, call out discrimination, draw attention to bias and seek out inclusion. BMC joins the community of companies around the world to celebrate this day by inspiring employees with messages of women empowerment.
Lailatul Zubaidah served the Brunei Judiciary for almost two decades and has worn many hats in her professional and personal life. Passionate about empowering special needs children and families through a community platform called “The Impian Project”, she strives to advocate for other families alike through networking events and training workshops.
The talk was attended by many BMC employees of all genders. Lailatul Zubaidah shared her struggles and triumphs, and her thoughts on whether there still exists a glass ceiling in the work force. Her words were inspiring spreading realistic positivity and kindness as many spirits were ignited by her message of hope and perseverance.
BMC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jesús Enrique Mora Marín handed over a token of appreciation to Lailatul Zubaidah.
