A virtual conference between JobCentre Brunei (“JCB”) and Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (“BMC”) was held on 15 August 2022 to officiate the agreement to bring in the fourth batch of i-Ready apprentices to BMC. The new batch of i-Ready apprentices, Muhammad Syahmirul Dzikri bin Matali and Muhammad Fadli bin Jaladi will commence their 18-month journey with BMC on 29 August 2022 as a Field Operator and Laboratory Technician. Also present from JCB was Special Duties Officer Grade II, Nur Syahidatul Nadzirah Awang Yahya.

Representing BMC Management was our Deputy CEO, Abdul Mu'izz bin Dato Paduka Haji Alikhan, Human Resource Business Partner, Sharifah Miza Malai Anwar Hussain and Human Resource Trainee, Siti Nurshaffena binti Awang Affendy. As the two apprentices embark on their journey at BMC, they will be coached and supervised under the guidance of our Plant Shift Supervisor, Khairul Faliq Bin Hj Madni and Laboratory Supervisor, Noorul Qhadijah Bte Hj Ibrahim respectively who were also present at the virtual event.

At BMC we appreciate the full value of apprenticeship in helping to acquire knowledge, experience as well as gain on-the-job skills, thus helping them to be more industry ready, marketable and competitive in the job market. We have been supporting the i-Ready apprenticeship programme since 2021 and have secured employment for five apprentices. It has always been a privilege for BMC to play a role in building Brunei Darussalam’s future workforce which is in alignment with the Brunei Wawasan 2035 to enhance the employability of Brunei graduates and help them be future-ready by strengthening their knowledge. The development of highly skilled, industry-ready local workforce is key to the growth of Brunei Darussalam’s economy as it contributes to reducing unemployment in Brunei.
